Iodine Tincture

Wound disinfectant. Stops an infection before it starts.

What it does

  • Disinfects an open wound
  • Sterilises rags so they are safe to bandage with
  • Clears a stage 1 wound infection and prevents one starting

When to use it

  • Immediately after taking a cut, before you bandage
  • On rags before using them as an improvised bandage
  • After climbing through anything dirty or rusted

What it does NOT treat

warning
  • A wound infection that has already set in with a fever
  • Bleeding — you still need a bandage
  • Water; use chlorine tablets for that

Important notes

  • Prevention, not a cure — once the fever starts you need Tetracycline too
  • Do not drink it
  • Interchangeable with alcoholic tincture and disinfectant spray
