What it does

  • Restores a large amount of blood quickly
  • Faster than saline when the type is correct
  • Requires a compatible blood type

When to use it

  • You are critically low on blood and the type is confirmed
  • On a teammate whose type you have already tested
  • When you have banked matching blood in advance

What it does NOT treat

warning
  • The wound causing the blood loss
  • Any infection or disease
  • Anything, if the type is wrong — it will actively harm you

Important notes

  • A mismatched type causes a hemolytic reaction that can kill you
  • Requires an IV Start Kit
  • Use saline instead whenever you are not certain
